Hello, and welcome to Entangled! The podcast where we explore the science of consciousness, the true nature of reality, and what it means to be a spiritual being having a human experience.
I’m your host, Jordan Youkilis, and in this episode, I’m joined by my brother-in-law Derek Roedig. In this conversation, Derek describes his life in Northern Kentucky, from coaching football, working in book publishing, foodservice, and ultimately real estate. Derek describes the impact of growing up with a large family and its influence on his competitiveness and mental strength. Next, we discuss Derek’s attraction to football, the deterioration of the sport, and the infantilization of kids in our society.
We then discuss rising anxiety levels and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. From there, Derek describes how he has changed through fatherhood and his favorite things about members of his family. Next, Derek discusses why Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati have some of the fastest growing real estate markets in the country. We consider how real estate could be more affordable if private equity were restricted from buying single family homes and the impact of Chinese nationals purchasing US real estate.
Derek and I then discuss the new administration and how each of our perspectives on President Trump have evolved over time and our views on Joe Biden’s pardons. We end the discussion on having fun, remembering not to take life too seriously, and prioritizing finding the right answer over being proven right.
